WHAT IS GOLF SPECIFIC PERSONAL TRAINING AND WHY WOULD I NEED IT?

 

1 on 1 Golf Specific Personal Training is a highly personalised service based on specific goals & the results of the detailed assessments. I will tailor our PT sessions with golf specific exercises that train the exact muscles that are required to swing a club. It’s total fitness conditioning for golfers. 

The 45-60min sessions are based on the flexibility, stability, strength, power progression model your PT sessions will comprise elements of flexibility, mobility, core strength, stability work, functional golf-specific strength & power training and balance skills. 

Golf Specific Training is also designed to improve the motor functions associated with the golf swing. This motor learning or muscle memory is extremely important with the golf swing in reproducing a proper swing every time that will improve your golf game.

It is my experience that without some 1 on 1 attention exercise outcomes are less than optimal but with just a little bit of help at the right time anyone can achieve extraordinary results!

One of the main focuses of Golf PT is to increase the player’s range of motion which translates into greater club head speed and the ability to hit the ball longer without suffering from unnecessary injuries.

 

Juniors - Can help players understand the basics of the swing and help avoid bad habits. Learn what the body is doing.

 

Golf PT will improve your overall flexibility, muscle strength, tone and most importantly longevity, it will keep you on the course for longer!

 

It's recommended most clients undergo at least three months of Golf PT to overcome any personal challenges, start to see some results and begin to master basic golf specific movement patterns and correct technique.

WHAT DOES THE PROCESS LOOK LIKE?

This is a small preview of how we assess you and plans on how to progress you:

 

• Posture Analysis â€“ we assess your individual posture and design your program around your body’s specific needs. This includes assessing your C-Posture as having this type of posture will never allow you to get the distance in your shots that you really desire.

 

• Golf Specific Movement Assessment - The assessment helps to figure out what area’s you need to improve including flexibility, balance and strength.

 

• Planning PT in 6 week blocks â€“  Goal setting, train movement patterns specific to golf, flexibility, strength, posture, balance and core function. Plan for progressive overload.

 

• Setting Homework â€“ Golf specific sessions outside of your Personal training which include golf specific exercises as well as increasing your aerobic and anaerobic endurance.

 

• Re-assessment â€“ Re-assess your progress and reset goals to continue that progress.

GOLF SPECIFIC FITNESS & POSTURAL ASSESSMENTS: 

GREAT POSTURE - GREAT SWING!

 

Bad posture, muscle imbalances and a core that doesn’t work properly will quickly ruin your golf swing and will eventually leave you with an injury that affects your everyday life.

Due to the deskbound and sedentary lifestyle of most people today in modern society, postural alignment and core dysfunction issues are becoming increasingly more common.

Therefore, the first step for me is to identity my client's problems/potential problems, restore core function and good posture. 

Ideal posture, a functional core, a well-aligned body make a huge difference in the battle against injury.

 

The Golf Specific Fitness & Posture Assessment is designed to identify and assess:

 

- Postural issues

- Core function problems and compensations

- Muscle imbalances

- Flexibility imbalances

- Spinal curves

- Joint range of motion

- Golf specific functional movement patterns (bending & twisting)

 

You will become educated about how all of these affect your golf game and provide you with corrective strategies for overcoming any deficiencies that we may find.

This will involve stretching the muscles that are found to be tight, mobilize joints that have become stuck and strengthening the muscles that are weak to effectively pull you back into balance and have you feeling better about your golf game.

GOLF SPECIFIC EXERCISE PROGRAMS

 

We will have discussed and recorded your current health status, past and present injuries, other conditions, surgeries and your exercise history and these are all taken into account when designing your individual program.

Based on your history and the findings from your Golf Specific Fitness & Posture Assessment, you will recieve an individualised exercise program that will comprise elements of flexibility & mobility, core strength & stability work, functional golf-specific strength & power training and balance skills.

Some combinations of exercises and stretches can also serve as a pre-round warm up.

The program has 18 golf specific exercises that will address the six key components of the golf swing: the address, backswing, transition, downswing, impact and follow through. 

Golf functional exercises and specific movement patterns are an integral part of your training. 

You will develop flexibility, stability, strength and power to drive the golf ball farther, hit more accurate shots, have better golf endurance which all increases your capacity to play more competitive, pain-free golf.
